Well here we are at the end of the semester and our blogs have continued! While I am creative non-fiction writing major I have never really been the type to journal or keep a diary about my life/my day/my experience and this is probably the most close I have come to doing so. Yet, I love to write creative non-fiction which might have explained why I was so motivated to work on my narrative. Maybe next semester I will post some of my creative writing pieces! Or better yet – use some of my memoirs to create CONCEPTUAL pieces – a bit like my narrative but more creative and less literal.

I must admit that I am so happy that I have had the experience to keep a blog and post regularly. While it was only for our digital art class and most of the comments were only from Amy it is a nice way to voice the ideas in your head and hear feedback from people who have similar experiences, or advice. If my blog had a different theme, other than our assignments, and something more personal I could see myself becoming a real ‘addict’.

Not to mention, since I started my own blog I have noticed that BLOGS are EVERYWHERE. It seemed that through the entire political campaign this fall people were constantly referencing blogs and what others were saying and people were talking about. This summer @ my internship with Conde Nast they asked me to research blogs and it is predicted(or is already) the new ‘word of mouth’ technique for marketers and advertisers!!

I am looking forwarding to continueing into next semester with this the advanced section of this course and now that I have a bit of the background on all of this work and the skills required to create and maintain projects on the blog I think that I will be able to improve the overall quality of the work I am doing!

So in contrast to everything that we said at the beginning of the semester about not appreciating blogs – I take it all back. I am a fan

Tim Wise: Your Nation on White Privilege reading and response/Photgraphy Reborn

I emailed you both my responses to the reading by Tim Wise and Photography reborn– so that is where both of these works are. (If you need me to resend them I can) In general, I really appreciated reading the Tim Wise piece and it gave me an isnight and perspective that I might otherwise not have been aware. Photography Reborn was also very helpful in reconsidering the way in which we look at digital art in comparison to old fashion photography. What makes something art? was a question that I myself questioning after this project!

I give myself 4 stars on both of these response, if not 4.5 stars.

David Rees lecture

Unfortunately, something came up and I had to return home Wednesday afternoon(before Thanksgiving break) early and was unable to attend the David Rees lecture which would account for one of my absences. I do apologize entirely for missing this lecture and assignment.

This weather has inspired me…

I woke up early this morning and headed over to the gym for a quick run. While I was there I was thinking a lot about my final project for our class and was attempting to envision my work-out video from different scenes at the gym, i.e. boys lifting, people running on the treadmills, a spin class, people comind going, and then putting it to a mix of music on garage band. I am pretty sure I am still fixated on going through with this idea and I have made plans with a few of my friends to meet them @ the gym on Thursday for them to help by posing for me…through stop animation.

How do you feel about this original idea?

While I love the idea of creating a music dance video through a stop animation of stills i dont know if realistically I have time to go choreography a dance and then find people to perform it to me. I am trying to think how I could do this less literally and more abstractly but I am not sure.

My most recent idea which I cannot quite figure out how I will do is to create a stop animation on the course of day based on the weather. While I was awake looking out the windows @ the gym before the sun was up I was watching the snow fall — and by the time I was finished running the sun had come up and was peaking through the snow over casted sky…. I thought again to last night when I noticed the sun lowering in the sky around 4pm and the weather starting to become more frigid. I think it would be really neat to portray the weather through the day – especially on a day like today in start animation or video scene but I am not sure how I can do this. Any suggestions?

All – in – all, what do you think of all of these ideas?

Finally, my narrative is really literal and almost feels a bit narcisistic. It is a day in the life of my dream day/job, and I filmed it over the weekend and I have a lot of footage and have put it all together and at this point I just need to finish editing sound and lining it up with different scenes. Is is okay if its more of a short documentary of me in my dream day/job? It is also a bit tacky but I have learned a lot about how to work with iMovie in combination with the video recorder, voice recorder, and adding music!?

Ha, yes I meant to say stop motion. I am going to play around with this idea this week. The more I think of it I think it would be cool to make a collection of different scenes from the gym – guys lifting, spin classes, cardio machines! and then put it to music and create a short film on my generation and working out through scenes @ the gym. How long do you want these films to be if they are done as stop motion animation?

Not much different from my original idea but I thought it might be cool to go over to the gym studio with mirrors in it @ the fitness center and create a start animation video as a work-out class/show… but because the room has mirrors as walls it could create a really cool effect…
